October Festival (Oct. 11, 2014)
Apple peeling on Wednesday, Oct. 8 8:00 am.
The picture above shows the Ladies Auxiliary women putting together the take out orders, at the October Festival, of Chicken or Ham dinners with all the trimmings, from the vegetables, cooked apples, rolls or cornbread, to the many selections of homemade deserts and beverages.
October Festival is the biggest and best of all the events, with the home made apple butter. Many of the jars are still warm when the folks purchase them. The home made meal, as described to the left of the picture above, will satisfy the most discriminating eater. The concession stand, with such things as hot dogs, soft drinks, and homemade cakes and pies, is open during the entire festival. The “Ladies Auxiliary” makes hundreds of Baked Apple Pies, to sell while others are making the Apple Butter. Vendors of Arts and Crafts are lined up for your enjoyment and purchasing pleasures. Four different Bluegrass bands, that play all day from 10:00 am to 8:00 pm or later, keep your toes tapping and the dancers active. If you like to dance this is the place, and if you don’t it is still fun to listen to the music, and watch those that do. It is a fine fun event for old and young alike, and a fantastic family event. Bring your lawn chairs and a smile! No alcohol allowed on the premises. Come and join us on the second Saturday in October.
